A former resident of Tucson, Arizona, Richard Dupree and his wife, Char, had been to Hickory Creek several times to visit his daughter and grandchildren. After taking early retirement from Hughes/Raytheon, they moved to Hickory Creek in 2001 drawn to the small town atmosphere and being close to family. Having served on several state boards and commissions previously, Richard decided to get involved in the community of Hickory Creek. Richard began with community emergency response training (CERT); this was followed by Citizens Fire Academy, Citizens Corps Council, and helping to start the Hickory Creek Citizens on Patrol (COP). He has served on the Board of Adjustments and his volunteer activities earned Richard Citizen of the Year in 2008.

“I have a deep appreciation for the way our current Mayor and council govern and feel privileged to be a part of it. I will continue to emphasize community involvement, joining our council in building respect, trust, and compassion in our beautiful town.”
