New False Alarm Ordinance

At the June 2009 Council Meeting, the Town of Hickory Creek Town Council approved, at the request of the Chief of Police, a new False Alarm Ordinance for Hickory Creek which necessitates all home owners and businesses who operate an alarm system to register their alarm system(s) and obtain an alarm permit from the town.  There is no charge for registration and obtaining a permit for private residences and no annual permit fee.  Commercial Intrusion alarms will require a $50.00 registration and permit fee which will be due on an annual basis.  Any business having both an intrusion alarm and a hold-up alarm will be required to remit a $100.00 registration and permit fee which will also be due on an annual basis.  There will be a 60 day grace period beginning June 29, 2009, and ending August 27, 2009, to allow all persons adequate time to register and obtain an alarm permit.  During the grace period no false alarms will be counted toward the billing of false alarms.  Applications can be obtained by contacting Amy Theriault at Town Hall, 1075 Ronald Reagan Ave. or by calling Amy at (940) 497-3520 ext #225.  Along with the application, you will be provided a copy of the False Alarm Ordinance for you reference and explanation of the ordinance.  Upon expiration of the 60 day grace period, citations will be issued to anyone in violation of the False Alarm Ordinance by operating an alarm without a permit.  Person(s) with an alarm permit will be invoiced for false alarms as explained within the False Alarm Ordinance.  Roger Mangum, Town Administrator/Chief of Police.
